Finger Types
- Tapered "Candlestick" vs Knuckles
- Double check ring size by measuring inside diameter in mm (millimeters) with a caliper. Don't let a jeweler give you a US number size only; exact measurement should be cross-referenced with a caliper because all ring mandrels tend to measure slightly differently.
- Measure actual finger the ring will be worn on.
- Measure the same finger several times; fingers swell and shrink throughout the day.
- Finger size is based on other factors such as ambient temperature (summer vs winter) and level of body hydration (see next point).
- Water retention during pregnancy can lead to temporarily swollen fingers (measuring fingers during pregnancy prior to purchasing any new rings is essential).
- Life events - such as pregnancy - can result in a temporary or permanent change in ring size. This is normal!
Measure Using a Ring You Own
- Select a ring that represents approximately the same width as the ring or stack you're measuring for.
Wearing Multiples
- For thicker rings or stacks: Consider going up ½ to 1 whole US ring size depending on overall band width.
- Alternately, order a full size up for a very thick stack plus one extra ring in your normal size to be sure the stack stays on.
- If there's a gemstone or other element that shouldn't slide around (fall to the backside of your finger), take extra care to be sure the fit you select is precise.
Sizing DON'TS
- Don't use the *string method* to measure your finger. It tends to be very inaccurate as even 1mm can affect your result by a whole ring size.
